Our Values

Diversity Statement

A commitment to fairness, dignity and equal access, within our firm and within the law itself.

Last updated: January 2026

Our Position

Nyama Law Chambers is committed to diversity, equality and dignity, within our firm, in our relationships with clients and in our broader engagement with the legal system. This commitment is not separate from our practice. It is the practice.

Within the Firm

We recruit, retain and develop staff on the basis of merit, competence and contribution, without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or any other protected characteristic. Our office is structured to be accessible to staff and visitors with mobility limitations, and we accommodate reasonable adjustments where requested.

In Our Service to Clients

The law is for everyone. We welcome clients from every community, background and circumstance. We work hard to ensure that the way we explain matters, and the cost structure we offer, does not exclude those who most need legal protection.

We maintain a particular practice commitment to marginalised communities, including women facing inheritance disputes or gender-based violence, children, the elderly, widows and widowers, persons with disabilities, and survivors of abuse. Where appropriate, we undertake pro bono work in qualifying matters.

In the Profession

We support efforts by the Law Society of Zimbabwe and other bodies to widen access to the profession itself, including bursaries, mentorship and pupillage opportunities for under-represented groups.

Accountability

This statement is reviewed annually. We welcome feedback from clients, staff and members of the public on how we can better live up to it. Contact lawrencenyama@gmail.com with any comment or observation.
