Last updated: January 2026

1. Who We Are

Nyama Law Chambers is a firm of Licensed Legal Practitioners of Zimbabwe, operating from 4 Bates Street, Milton Park, Harare. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean Nyama Law Chambers. References to "you" mean the client whose matter we are instructed to handle.

2. Engagement & Scope

These terms apply to all matters we undertake unless we agree otherwise in writing. Each matter will additionally be subject to a specific Engagement Letter which sets out the scope of work, the practitioner(s) responsible, and the fee basis.

3. Fees, Costs & Disbursements

Our fees may be charged on a fixed-fee, time-spent, or percentage-of-value basis depending on the nature of the matter. We will provide a written cost estimate before commencing substantive work, and notify you in good time if circumstances require revision of that estimate.

Disbursements, including search fees, deed registry fees, stamp duty, courier costs and similar, are payable by you and, where possible, will be itemised in your estimate.

4. Trust Funds

Where we hold money on your behalf, including conveyancing deposits, purchase prices, settlement funds and court awards, these amounts are held in our regulated trust account. Funds are released only on your written instructions or as required by the matter.

5. Confidentiality & Privilege

Communications between you and the firm are protected by legal professional privilege. We will not disclose information you provide except where you authorise us, where required by law, or where necessary to advance your matter.

6. Termination

Either party may terminate our engagement on reasonable notice. Termination does not affect liability for fees and disbursements incurred up to the date of termination.

7. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please raise the matter promptly. See our Complaints Policy for the process.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of Zimbabwe. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Zimbabwean courts.
